General Information

One of our guides carefully places the capstone to complete or home for the evening.

Visitors will be with Inuit and   immersed in their way of life; learning and experiencing traditions and cultural values different from their own.

Qimuk is different from other tour operators in that we provide experiences no other operators offer such as:

  • learning to build an igloo and then overnighting in it
  • dog teaming to the floe edge
  • drinking crystal clear 1000 year old water from icebergs
  • hunting caribou and seals
  • gazing at Aqsaqniit (Aurora Borealis), or
  • bird watching during the abundance of wildlife in the spring & summer
Illaulittuuq Outpost Camp is a secluded camp at the  mouth if a fiord surrounded by mountains and Arctic wildlife. Visitors to Illaulittuuq have the option of staying in a traditional qammaq (sod house) or an igloo.

Excursions on the land will provide travelers with a chance to see sea mammals at the floe edge, experience a caribou or seal hunt, jig for char, taste country food, and marvel at the unspoiled beauty of the tundra. The camp provides an opportunity for travelers to experience life in a serene & pristine setting in an untouched part of Canada's North, they will have a lots of opportunity to unwind and relax away from busy daily routines.

Our traditional caribou clothing, which remains the best way to stay warm in sub-zero temperatures, is hand stitched by local women who include our host Paniloo
